Two old farts on tour in the UK

On Monday the 9th, I'm heading back to the UK to visit my Dad. Since Mom's death a few months ago, he has been trying to piece his life back together. He is starting to get some of his fitness back after being house bound for at least 2 years, and has been out on his motorbike at least once. Not bad for 87. I had hoped to bring him back with me for a month or two, but he is not ready yet.
I'll be home for 2 weeks, so I am going to take the opportunity of getting down south to see some friends I don't usually get to see on my short visits home. I will also be picking up my new guitar that my old mate Terry Docherty has built for me. I have several of his instruments already, but this will probably be the last (or so I told Mrs Legend) although I can remember saying that about the one featured in the attached video, so you never know. It is a custom built archtop guitar, and you can see the progress of it being made at terrydochertyguitars.com if you are interested in seeing a craftsman at work.
Steve Amsden, one of my Vashon buddies and fellow itinerant musicians will be coming with me, so we are hoping to get some playing done in the pubs we visit. We'll be playing at Northern Snippets pub and restaurant, and up in Low Newton at the Ship Inn, and maybe down in Stony Stratford and London. Check out Steve's website at steveamsden.com to listen to a few of his songs. I got to play on Going Home and Comes the Flood.

We have promised to be on our best behaviour

  3. Wow! That was great! Impressed. Very impressed. Does Legend Jnr lthink it's cool you play guitar? will show my boys the clip as they think guitar is the business - all the boys at school want guitar lessons and then end up having to do tuba as waiting list for guitar too long. Tuba not quite so cool. Where is Stony Stratford??

  4. Your playing certainly does justice to Terry's beautiful instrument. I really enjoyed that little video, and am very glad I dropped by today!
Good luck with everything on your trip: the gigs, the visit with your dad, and that bit about being on your best behaviour :)

I'm thinking about 14 hours in Paris. I don't want you to waste a second. Oooh, you may meet Christina. Now that sounds exciting.

I'll be back with a list of ideas. Promise.

    Warmest regards,

  9. Thanks for writing this. I really feel as though I know so much more about this than I did before. Your blog really brought some things to light that I never would have thought about before reading it. You should continue this, I’m sure most people would agree you’ve got a gift.
