Hello: Yes, this really did make us smile. It brought back happy memories of our chicken keeping days. There really is NOTHING like a freshly laid egg.
I grew up raising chickens. I was in charge of collecting eggs twice a day. Some of those hens were MEAN. And I always hasten to tell everyone that there REALLY is such a thing as a pecking order! But...those eggs? DELICIOUS. So much better than the ones I get at the supermarket now. And many of them had double yolks.
I caught one of the hens sitting on top of another pecking the back of her head. A swift kick up the arse and a threat of landing in the stew pot cut that short.
oh how fabulous...... am truly envious I would like to keep chickens I fancy rescuing them as I believe they respond very quickly to a bit of love but London is full of hungry foxes.....and such delicious looking eggs!!
Thank goodness for that soaking pool and the food looks delish!! I still think they should have knocked a big chucnk of change off for you for the pool being out of order, but then again, any getaway is a good getaway! Thanks for the comment on my blog todaY!

ReplyDeleteA small electric fence does the trick. No Raccoon problems for months since we installed it.
DeleteBoiled egg and soldiers........! Nothing beats a brekkie like that - or a 10-second fried one on a hungover Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMarmite soldiers, Just finished mine. Mmmmm
DeleteI love the egg smile, I only wish I liked eggs.
